In glorious sunshine, on Friday
21st.May, our twenty-one guests from Schorndorf arrived at theTown Hall, where they were warmly welcomed by the new Mayor, Councillor John Burns and Mrs. Burns, the Mayoress.
The splendid reception, which
followed did us proud and set the scene for a superb visit.
Guests and members visited York on Saturday and enjoyed strolling along the city walls and
through the narrow streets prior
to a lovely meal in the Dean
Court Hotel Restaurant. In the
afternoon we admired the striking architecture of York Minster and we stepped back in time by visiting the amazingly informative undercroft. After
leaving the refreshing coolness of the crypt, the summer heat of the streets above justified cold drinks and ice-creams.
On Sunday there were lots of
things to do: a service at St. Stephen’s Parish Church, the Prestwich Farmers’ Market and in the afternoon, Hollins Bowling Club
welcomed our visitors from
Schorndorf.

Other highlights enjoyed by hosts
and guests included the National
Railway Museum, the Shambles,
the Jorvick Museum and being
driven through the streets on
a horse drawn carriage.
