Schorndorf lies at the Eastern extremity of the conurbation of Stuttgart which is the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg.

It is a picturesque medieval market town of some 35,000 inhabitants many of whom commute to Stuttgart with its varied commerce and industry, whereas Schorndorf itself concentrates on viniculture, farming, small trades and light industry.

Schorndorf is the home town of Daimler! Gottlieb Daimler, inventor of the "light and fleet petroleum engine", was born there in 1834. But that's not the only thing which makes Schorndorf special: an enchantingly stylish town awaits discovery! One of the prettiest old marketplaces with quaintly timbered houses sets the scene for encounters with young and old, ancient and modern.

The "Town History Tour" leads you along picturesque alleys to 29 marked locations, each attraction having something unique to offer the visitor. Modern art and sculptures line the route, in lively contrast to an atmosphere steeped in history.

A wealth of attractive shops and street cafés, the best of Swabian cuisine, and a varied programme of events (only in German) complete the "
Schorndorf Experience" - to which you're warmly invited.
