A relatively small group of eleven members of the Association visited Schorndorf at the end of May. On arrival at Stuttgart we were met by our hosts who had travelled from Schorndorf to meet us and accompanied us on the train back to Schorndorf. It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Jaques Bouyoux on 17th May 2011 in Tulle.
Jacques was a good friend of Bury and he visited regularly since the beginning of the twinning agreement between Prestwich and Tulle in 1969.
All those who have met Jacque will remember him as a kind, thoughtful and amusing friend. We will miss him greatly and our thoughts are with Danielle her children and grandchildren, to whom we send our most sincere condolences.

and after a pleasant walk in the town centre and a visit to the market and an
imposing department store where we were provided with lunch by our hosts, in a beautifully decorated roof-top restaurant. In the afternoon we visited the Television Tower and its observation platform, which was perched on a hill overlooking the city. During lunch we had had the opportunity to get a good look at the tower.
This was just as well because while on the metro the sky had become overcast and the observation platform had disappeared in the cloud. Regretfully, we never saw the distant Alps. We could hear the traffic down below, but from our vantage point far above, swirling mist was all that could be seen.
The chocolate cake tasted just as good, however. This was the only cloudy day, so our visit by coach to Augsburg in Bavaria was in glorious sunshine. The Town Hall built in 1620 boasts the magnificent Golden Hall. We also visited the Fuggerei, the world’s oldest social housing complex. It was founded by the immensely wealthy Fugger family who were financiers and bankers to the Hapsburgs and to the Vatican.
